Requirements
Experience: Pharmacy Assistant: 1 year (Preferred)
TELUS Kroll Software Experience Required
1)Assist the Pharmacist/Owner in the preparation of prescriptions: This includes;
a) Receiving prescriptions from patients: The assistant helps assess the prescription for completeness.
b) Performing Computer Functions as directed by the Pharmacist. (Data Entry; Price Check; Patient Information Entry/Update; Refills; Report Generation; Patient Profile checks, etc.)
c) Filling prescriptions Under the supervision of the Pharmacist/Owner; Performs accuracy checks, including Visual and DIN checks as well as profile checks; Selects and counts/ measures & prepares appropriate products ; Labels and organizes prescriptions for the Pharmacist/Owner to check; Gains necessary approvals for verbal refills where authorized; facilitates all aspects of Pharmacists cognitive services.
d) Operating the Cash register. The Pharmacy assistant operates the cash register to process Prescription pickups and OTC purchases made by customer.
2) Assist the Pharmacist/Owner in the management of dispensary and OTC inventories. This includes:
a) Ordering both OTC and Prescription drugs; Checking for early expiry dates, received order discrepancies; investigating and solving any discrepancies, putting away drugs orders; checking and pulling expired medications on a monthly basis, labeling near expiring medications as instructed by the Pharmacist / Owner; processing returns for expired products as instructed by Pharmacist/Owner.
b) Ensuring that all OTC merchandise is properly signed and priced
3) Perform General Housekeeping / Clerical Organization / Administrative tasks including:
a) Keeping the dispensary clean, organized and neat b) Maintaining clean/safe work environment as part of the team approach.
c) Maintaining & cleaning packaging & dispensing equipment, computer, fax machine, etc.
d) Filing prescriptions, invoices, reports, correspondence and memos.
e) Completing any administrative support functions assigned by the Pharmacist / Owner
4) Customer Service
a) Answering Customer calls.
b) Assist Customers in finding merchandise.
c) Retrieving Customers prescriptions from the Pickup shelves.
d) Operating the Cash register
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
A Pharmacy Assistant Certificate and/or Pharmacy experience is desired for this Full -Time Position. Additional qualifications include:
a) Possession of a minimum high school diploma
b) Demonstrate proficiency in:

Basic Reading/Writing Skills
Communication Skills
